Prabhas’ “Kalki 2898 AD” Maintains Box Office Might Despite Second-Day Dip

Prabhas’ sci-fi extravaganza “Kalki 2898 AD” continues to dominate the box office, though its earnings saw a dip on its second day. After a record-breaking opening of ₹95.3 crores (net) in India, the film raked in ₹54 crores on Friday, June 28th, according to Sacnilk data. This translates to a 43.3% drop in domestic collections.

Despite the dip, trade analysts remain optimistic. The film’s first-day performance was the third biggest opener ever, surpassing “KGF 2”. Early estimates suggest the movie held strong in Hindi markets, earning between ₹18.00 crore to ₹19.00 crore on Friday alone. Industry trackers still expect a strong weekend showing, possibly reaching ₹85 crore or even ₹90 crore. Globally, “Kalki 2898 AD” earned a commendable ₹163 crore on its opening day.

The film’s drop in earnings on the second day could be attributed to it being a weekday. Weekend collections are expected to pick up again, especially with positive word-of-mouth about the film’s visual spectacle and performances by Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.

“Kalki 2898 AD” was directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies. The sci-fi epic promises a visually stunning experience set against the backdrop of the Mahabharata.
